Vive la France!

What an amazing game. The results were surprising, true — but France was, simply put, the better team. On the one hand, I’m happy the French team gets to show the world what they really can do. On the other hand, I feel sorry for Brazilian players like Ronaldinho who could have done so much better. We’ll see how things will develop.

One thing I noticed is that the referees start making a lot of mistakes which seem a little peculiar (or rather: suspicious) to me, e.g. Brazil’s free kick for Ronaldo’s really really lame dive or giving the right to a goal-kick to the Brazilian goal keeper shortly after that. I understand that being a referee is a difficult job. However, these days the FIFA has the technical means to analyze certain situations and to communicate with the referees in order to prevent things like this.

Don’t get me wrong, I’m not saying that anyone is trying to pull something off here. But I’m sure we are going to get to a point where mistakes like these will affect the outcome of a game — and I wouldn’t want to see that happen.
